In Hong Kong, HSBC was seen as a big bank for only big companies and couldn't keep up with the businesses of the new economy. In 2018, HSBC became the first ever in its industry to step into the ecosystems of innovative businesses, starting with films that showcased how it supported innovative businesses. It created an online CEO Exchange programme which showed HSBC's Head of Commercial Banking running its customer's business with its CEO.
